Cracked window glaze and peeling paint on this 1930s wood window
Everything was coated with layers of paint done over many decades
These upper sashes were nailed in place and then for good measure painted shut instead of repairing the broken sash cords
I strip every window using lead safe practices, even if i don't detect lead using an EPA certified test. This includes applying a layer of swedish linseed oil, which naturally helps loosen the paint without damaging it, and using an infrared paint st

Using a bronze plated sash chain to replace the sash cord that had worn out really compliments the dark wood tone
